(UK, 10620850) Hackney Empire is a special building in a special place and is a unique variety theatre for the 21st century. Embracing both local and global communities of audiences, artists and participants it is determined to nurture and present work that is at once extraordinary, inclusive, inspirational and transformative. Our community programming developed in direct consultation with local children and young people aims to offer more than 1,000 Hackney young people interesting and accessible alternatives to gang membership, crime and anti-social behaviour. The programme supports participants to learn new creative skills, improve confidence and self-esteem, and develop other transferable skills such as team-work and communication. It also aims to break down prejudice and misunderstanding by encouraging participants from diverse backgrounds, experience and cultures to work and have fun together. To support the programme and the development work it does with local young people, please give generously.
