(UK, 288473) Browse eventsThe Diana Brimblecombe Animal Rescue Centre is a registered Charity that seeks to provide care and comfort for animals in need of sanctuary. It mostly attempts to provide assistance for a very wide range of domestic pets but also for any injured or distressed wild animals normally considered part of the United Kingdom’s natural fauna. The Animal Rescue Centre was founded almost fifty years ago when Mrs Diana Brimblecombe established a sanctuary at her home in Wokingham to provide a continuous haven for homeless and unwanted animals. That sanctuary and its successor at Hurst, has accepted, cared for and re-homed many thousands of domestic animals, representing a multitude of species and breeds. Additionally, care, veterinary treatment and accommodation has been provided for hundreds of distressed or injured wild animals before returning them, wherever possible, to their natural habitat. About a thousand domestic animals and hundreds of battery hens are now re-homed each year and we are continually making every effort to increase the number of animals we assist. The Charity also offers an advisory service to local schools and youth organisations, attempting to provide young people with advice on the responsibilities of pet ownership and the techniques of animal care, thus, in the long term, hopefully reducing the number of animals obliged to seek sanctuary. We also make visits to care communities to provide the joy of animal contact to people whose circumstances prohibit pet ownership.
(UK, 1096655) Browse eventsQueens Crescent Community Association aims to improve the quality of life for residents who live and work in Camden, especially in the Gospel Oak area. We run a variety of activities and sessions over three sites. Activities and sessions include educational programmes such as ICT and ESOL, health programmes such as gym sessions and exercise classes and social cohesion programmes such as Luncheon club and creche. QCCA also runs social events such as trips, residentials and festivals. We also hire halls and equipment as part of our on going service to the public. Currently, due to governmental cuts, we will be losing our main funding for the luncheon club service that we offer to the elderly and vulnerable. This service enables the elderly in our local community, most of whom live on their own and have no contact with others, a chance to make friends, socialise and have a hot 3 course meal, usually their only one of the day. This is our opportunity to raise enough money to continue our service to them and ensure that the luncheon club continues to provide for one of our most vulnerable groups in our community.
