(UK, 1113369) Friends of Gillespie(FoG) is the parent teacher association for Gillespie Primary School, a small, vibrant, inner-city community school in Highbury, north London, with pupils from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. FoG raises funds to support the school and aims to help provide the best possible learning environment for the children. We do this by organising and supporting fun social & educational events such as a summer fair, Halloween party, quiz nights, an international food evening and theatre and other off-site trips (including a Christmas pantomime trip for the whole school) and an annual sponsored run/cycle ride for the children. FoG has helped transform the school playground into a stimulating learning environment and is currently focussing on Gillespie School’s trailblazing Lab_13 primary science scheme. Many of the children speak English as a second language and around 17% are eligible for free school meals.
