Dreams really can come true. But for some people, it definitely means so much more. Dreams for children is a new charity that makes the wishes of children fighting life-threatening illness in Merseyside happen. We do this by working hard to raise money in order to see dreams come to life, creating the most special days for the most special people and ensuring that they have amazing experiences that help ease suffering. We also support families coping with the serious illness of a child through our support network. The charity was set up in memory of Catherine Strickland, who passed away in July 2013 aged just 12. Catherine died from a rare bone cancer called osteosarcoma, after fighting bravely for 2 years. Before she passed away, her family rallied around to make her remaining time as special as possible, where Dreams for Children co-founder Emma Strickland – Catherine’s aunt – was instrumental in arranging several special days for her most special of nieces. Our aim is to make sure as many other children as possible also have the chance to see their wishes become a reality because, as everyone knows, the best dreams are the ones that come true.
